Sunday’s victory was as a result of some fine work by forward Midge Purce who notched a goal and assist en route to leading the Gotham side that brought back all three points from Los Angeles. Debutant Lynn Williams scored the other goal, entering the grand stage in the most memorable fashion after her offseason arrival from Kansas City Current.
Last weekend’s win was the first time Gotham cameback from behind since a 4-3 win over the Boston Breakers on September 30, 2017.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce made three saves and conceded a single goal on a night when experienced defender Lauren Barnes reached her 190th regular season NWSL match. Forward Bethany Balcer registered a team high four shots.
