Chelsea claimed double awards and Arsenal settled for a single prize at the recently held London Football Awards.
Forward Sam Kerr and Lauren James scooped the two main women’s awards that were up for grabs on the night.
Kerr landed the Women’s Player of the Year while teammate Lauren James took the award for Women’s Young Player of the Year.
Kerr said, “Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, everyone. Everyone in this room knows you don’t win an award without a million people helping you.”
The newly established Power of Football Award went to Gunners’ pair of Leah Williamson and Beth Mead. The award is in recognition of the duo’s valiant work in the game. The pair was part of the Lionesses that lifted England’s first major trophy since 1966.
Williamson promised to work hard at the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup. She said, “We’ll continue to do what we’re doing and maybe add another one in the summer!”
