- As growing list of players withdraw from the national team
Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas heaped more pressure on France Women’s manager Corinne Diacre to move aside amid growing list of players withdrawing from French national team duties.
Perle Morroni, the latest player to step back from the national team, reiterated the statement made by those before her saying she will not wear the French national team jersey again if the current arrangement does not change stating that she hopes for better circumstances where the values espoused by management are in line with what is expected in high-level football.
Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas has added her voice to the call for change in management in a move viewed as an apparent increase in pressure for CORINNE to step down.
Speaking to L’Équipe, Aulas said “Corine Diacre has been there for six years. There have been highs and lows. We have gotten into a situation of no return. We you see the framework of this French team, you see that is doesn’t compare at all to the big European teams”.
He added, “The message sent by the best French players, who are amongst the best in the world, the association can’t sit on that. It is my feeling and my opinion.”
