USA great Brandi Chastain has joined the call for equal footing in soccer insisting there is “a lot of systematic, cultural, and societal bias” in the game.

A Women’s World Cup with USWNT in 1999, Chastain called for equality amid widespread disputes rocking the game.

Spain, Canada and lately France women’s national teams have been in serious contestations with their authorities over not so dissimilar issues.

“It’s not that we want the equal pay because we want the money, it’s we want the treatment that humans expect and deserve,” said Chastain.

This is not the first time women’s teams have demanded equal footing.

The USWNT went on strike before winning gold at the 1996 Olympics, and would go on strike again before the 2000 Olympics.
