  • USWNT players joined protests as the CANWNT equal pay fight rages on

Two first-half goals from forward Mallory Swanson where enough for USNWT to condemn CANWNT to their first defeat in the SheBelieves Cup as off-field turmoil reared its ugly head for Canada.

USA dominated the match from the onset, and understandably so given the degree of the off-the-field issues Canada carried into the match.

A wonderful seventh minute strike from Swanson off an inch-perfect pass from veteran striker Alex Morgan, opened the floodgates for CANWNT.

A 17th minute bullet-header from striker Horan almost doubled the score for USA but the ball bounced off the outside of the lower left post with goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan beaten.

Canadian defender Vanessa Gilles gifted the ball to Swanson in the 34th minute who hit first-time past a hopeless Sheridan as USA doubled the score.

The win sent the five-time SheBelieves Cup champions to the summit of the standings as Brazil, who also picked up maximum points courtesy of a 1-0 win over Japan thanks to a 72nd minute goal from Kansas City Current star Debinha occupy second spot.

Marta came from the bench to make an instant impact setting up Debinha for the goal.
